Confirmation is the sacrament of initiation in which a baptized Catholic, through prayers, imposition of hands and the anointing with chrism, receives a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit that completes Baptismal grace.
This sacrament impresses a character, and by it the baptized, continuing on the path of Christian initiation, are enriched by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and bound more perfectly to the Church. It strengthens them and obliges them more firmly to be witnesses to Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith!
Confirmation for teens is celebrated for those teens of high school age.
In order for teens to receive the sacrament of confirmation, they must be enrolled in religious education for two (2) consecutive years before they receive the sacrament, with an attendance record of 80% or better in both years. Confirmation may take place as early as the end of ninth grade if the student attended Religious Education in the Eighth grade.
