As you may remember, during the property cleanup in July, a gas leak was discovered, and the gas has been shut-off until new plumbing can be installed. Adding to this, the water line running from the main valve to the office building sprung a serious leak recently. The church and office buildings have had intermittent water service, as needed.
After receiving estimates from a number of plumbers, we have contracted to have all of the repairs completed. The water service will be restored promptly, and then the gas lines will be repaired or replaced to restore gas service to the parish before the weather turns colder.
The parish maintenance funds, saved over time, along with two generous donors, will pay for these needed repairs as well as the required clean-up of weeds on our large campus. However, those funds are now low, so let us continue to pray that our maintenance needs stabilize for a while.
We can choose to see the bright side of this. We are replacing plumbing that is over fifty years old and patched time and again, with newer piping that will last us much longer. As we have so many times already, we will pull through this minor setback. Let us forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead, press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Phil 3:13-14).
