Maria Victoria Villa was born on September 19, 1968, in Tucson, Arizona to Belen and Armando Robles with whom she shares her only sibling, Ernesto Robles. She lost her battle with ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, on September 29, 2021, at the early age of 53. She left to be with the Lord in the comfort of her own home with her family close and devoted husband, Jesus Angel Villa at her side. She is survived by two daughters Angelina Lisette Villa (Ian Darryl Simes Jr.) and Adriana Christel Villa (Natalie Del Torro), and one grandson, Ian Darryl Simes III.
Maria grew up in Silverbell, Arizona before moving to Picture Rocks and attending school in Marana, Arizona. There, she grew close with the Villa family and met her husband, Jesus, at 11 years old. They began dating in junior high and were married not long after her graduation from high school. They have been together ever since, celebrating 34 years of marriage this past June.
Maria dedicated over 10 years to MUSD school district as a nurse’s aide in multiple schools throughout the district. In the year 2009, she moved on from MUSD after she began pursuing a nursing degree and began work at Banner UMC on the oncology floor and moved into the GI Lab later in time. Her love of her position in the GI lab formed many meaningful relationships with which she established her “GI Family”, whom she cherishes very deeply.
Family has always come first in her life, as she loved her nieces and nephews whole-heartedly, and had a very special place in her heart for all her cousins, Tios, and Tias. Maria enjoyed taking annual trips to Puerto Penasco, Mexico, where she soaked up the sun and made countless memories with the family who came with. Maria showed a lot of her love for her family through her cooking and baking. Holidays and celebrations were not complete without her delicious cakes and cookies. Maria always found a way to provide her amazing food and baked goods to any friend or family member she could reach.
Our Maria was a social butterfly. During her time with the schools, Maria would take up any opportunity to work the school sports games or keep score for MVHS women’s basketball games with her other Mountain Lion coworkers. She loved going to social hour with friends and would catch an Arizona Wildcat game any time she got the chance. Her contagious laugh and smile could brighten up any room and she had endless love filling her huge heart. She would take anyone who came to her with open arms and provided them with true love and acceptance.
