PREP - PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Religious Education is of paramount importance in the life of our small local community. The spiritual foundation and growth of our children is on top of our priorities. As you know, parents/guardians are the first teachers/educators/witnesses of their children's faith. The family along with the godparents create a loving and faith-filled atmosphere. Parents/guardians, then, are primarily responsible in the religious upbringing of the children. What we do for one hour and a half weekly is merely supplementary. We are working hard in order to be of great service to the church and the greater community of Marana. Religious Education may be summed up in the Sunday celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the source and summit of Christian life.

After due consultation and prayerful consideration with the Catechists, starting fall of this year 2018, the religious education program (K-8) will be moved to Tuesday, 5pm-6:30pm. The Parish Rel Ed Program kicks off on September 16, Sunday, 10:30am and classes start on September 18, Tuesday, 5pm-6:30pm. HS Confirmation meets on Tuesday, 5pm-6:30pm. Please click here for the Annual Calendar here.

The reason being is that we only have a handful of Catechists. Many, if not all, of them have other parish capacities. On Sundays, they have to juggle between Mass, Breakfast and Class. I hope that with this change, the centrality of Sunday Eucharist (Mass) will, more than ever, be strongly emphasized and cherised as the most important one hour and a half of the entire week. If this will affect your schedule, please click here and let us know.

For a couple of years now, we've been using Our Sunday Visitor's excellent resource Call to Faith (Alive in Christ/Vivo en Cristo). Please click here and here for more information regarding the program/curriculum. Please be informed that as a parent/guardian, you will have online access for your own spiritual/religious growth as well as to keep you updated of the progress of your child.
